Election years cause additional stress and anxiety for both investors and for markets. The stress is more behavioral than fundamental and it’s important to zoom out for sake of perspective. Blackrock has produced a Student of the Marketas a reminder of how markets have performed looking at past election cycles as a benchmark. Market volatility increases when there are additional unknowns, but tend to be short lived. Markets don’t care whether the oval office is red or blue; returns are red, white, and blue.
Best,
Garrett
